7 ways on how to test if your child is a genius

Every parent hopes that their child can be a genius, or at least be a highly intellectual person. What if your child really is but you don’t know it yet? The good news is that there are simple ways to test if your child is a genius or a really smart child.  In fact, if you have been observant, you will notice some tell tale signs that your child has a high IQ. If you are not sure what to look for, here are 7 tell tale signs that your child might be a genius in the making.

How to test if your child is a genius

#1: Quick to pick up skills

If your child seems to be able to pick up reading or math skills when they are very young, it is a strong signal that your child is highly intellectual. For example, if they can read and understand the words in a kindergarten book even when they are only 2 or 3, then their brain functions are highly developed.

#2: Super memory

If your child seems to be able to remember everything he or she has seen or heard, then there is a high chance that he or she might have a brain of a genius. Their capacity to store information will be much higher than people with normal IQ so it is not surprising to see them remember everything.

#3: Like to hang out with adults

Children who are genius tend to want to hang out with adults or older children, rather than their own peers. This might be because their advanced intellect makes it easier for them to converse with adults, rather than with children of their age. If your child always likes to talk to adults, rather than playing with their peers, you might want to take note of that.

#4:  Aware of world events around them

Most children will only be aware of things happening close to them such as home, school etc. Genius kids have a sense of the wider environment. If your kids asks lot of questions about world events or things not physically close to them, you might have a child who is the next Einstein :).

#5: Musically inclined

This sign might not apply to all kids with super IQ but if you see your child picking my music extremely fast, that is a strong sign that he or she might possess a genius mind.  Another way to test this out is to let your child watch some videos on playing instruments. He or she should be able to know how to play music after watching the video if he or she is a genius.

#6: Able to think of new rules

A child with a genius mind is able to understand the overall picture and thus be able to introduce new rules into existing systems. If you see your child starting to do so when he or she is playing, then it shows that he or she is able to grasp the whole picture. That might be a signal that your child possess a ‘beautiful’ mind. :)

#7:  Strong curiosity

A child who has high IQ tend to show more curiosity. He or she will ask lots of questions about almost everything. Surprising, most of their questions might not be that straight forward to answer as the children develop a good grasp of what is going on very quickly.  If you find your child asking difficult questions that you cannot ask, you might have a genius in the family.

Hope these 7 tips can alert you on whether your child is a genius.

If your child has a strange “quirk” and it involves touching a part of his/her body, or a sense (like smell) it’s a subconscious sign that they will have a high sexual drive. This may sound weird, but people with high sexual drives are proven to be more intelligent.

    I have all of these.
I learned to speak in full sentences like an adult as a 1,5 year old, learned to read all by myself (no one taught me) when I was 3 – 4 years old, I could solve puzzles as a 2 – 3 years old, when I was 6 I could count to 1000, I could read encyclopedias and other professional literature, I can remember almost everything since I was 1 year old, people always tell me to memorize things for them even now, things like telephone numbers, addresses or even what they have to do because they know I will memorize it and tell them. I could also write well when I was 6 year old.
Later I learned the entire cyrillic alphabet (both russian and serbian, and even bulgarian) when I was 12 all by myself and could read and write it fluently like a native speaker. I was always quick to understand languages. Even though I didn’t know how to speak it, I could understand what they were saying and I replied back in English. I can still learn any language pretty much the same like if I were a kid even though I am 23 years old.
I am awesome at music. I have perfect pitch and can play any song I hear for the first time on any instrument I get the basic tehnique down. People always wonder how I do that. It’s like my finger get the signals how to play instantly when I hear certain tone and they do it by themselves.
I could finish all grades of primary and middle school with a clear B with almost no learning at all. It could be an A if it wasn’t for sports and practical things (I’m mildly dyspraxic). I could memorize lists in my head and “read” the answers when asked (photographic memory). I was always good at games like memory, different puzzles, or chess and making my own rules to them.
I was good at math, multiplying large numbers in my head and didn’t ever write down how I got the result, because I didn’t know how I did. But in school they did not like it, so I didn’t want to learn math anymore and “forgot everything” like it was erased from my memory. That’s because they would always give me an F for not writing it down and only writing down the (correct) answer. I could barely pass math tests because of this. I can learn pretty much everything I set my mind to.
I’m also spiritually gifted, I know astral stuff, energy healing, psychic stuff and meditation and have never learned it. I just did it. Actually some psychic was the first to tell me that what I did is actually what she does. It made sense then. When my grandpa died, I asked allot of questions about death and at the time (7 years old) I believed he’s one of the stars above with which I can communicate. As a 5 years old I remembered my “previous life” and asked about reincarnation. And similar stuff. I could say something and it happened very soon after I said it. Like I would know it.

But I don’t think I’m a genius. I don’t even know if I am one or not. Would be interesting to know once though. What I do know is I have a deep passion and curiosity for knowledge ever since I was young. I would literally “soak up the information from the air”. And I would always seek answers others found stupid to even think about. And I was always making some “strange ideas” that later proved useful.
Actually if I put all of my energy to something I decide I’m going to do well, I can do it and quickly. People say “it isn’t possible” when it is, all we need is decision what we really want to do with our heart. I also sometimes imagine how I am doing something, and search for every “why” that is not clear to me. When I get enough answers so I can “build up a big picture out of all the details together”, I imagine myself training the thing (like reading certain book, playing instruments, learning something…) and look at how I am doing it. Then I can just reeat it in real life.
When I had an important violin exam coming, I haven’t practiced for almost two weeks. And then I had to come to the lessons for my teacher to see if I’m ready or not. What I did was “practice the piece in my head”. And I could play it at the lesson perfectly. She asked how much I practiced and i said I haven’t. I don’t have to say she didn’t believe me.
But btw, I never had many friends, I would play chess and other games with elders from my village, I would hang out with people either much younger than me (I could teach them things and learn from them) and people much older than me (I could learn from them and teach them back). I would never have any peer friend, that is – the same age group as me. I was too different, too eccentric for them. I would rather walk around with a book in my hands than talk with people things like small talk or other unimportant stuff.
I never cared for things like jealousy or envy. If someone was better than me, even if I was sometimes angry why I couldn’t yet be like that, I shook their hand and asked them to show me the trick. In exchange I could show them somethng they didn’t know that I did. I never thought of someone being better than me as a bad thing. I found it weird others would. I thought I can learn lots from them because they are better and to be like them one day.
I was always aware of the world around me much more than many people were. And would always seek the company of those with either same interests as me or those who were aware of the world around in much the same way I were. And I always wanted to understand how a human mind worked. As a 12 year old I would study Freud and other psychological books people at college read. Just because I wanted to understand how people function and why is everything like it is.
But overall not a fine thing… I’d rather forget it all some days and just relax and be like everyone else so I can forget I’m different for at least one week. :D
